Making Disciples Amidst Unreached Peoples
Mr. M and his family have been sent from their home to a country where there are scores of unreached peoples. He says that his motivation, what drives him, is Matthew 28:19, where Jesus commands us to go and make disciples of all nations.
Although Mr. M has only been in this new country a few months, he has already seen God work in marvelous ways. He was told that the Disciple Making Movement (DMM) strategy would not work in this country. But God helped him from the first person of peace that he met and from the first Discovery Bible Study. He started noticing that most of the people being picked wanted to know Jesus. He started teaching and discipling people, and before he knew it, they were so many! And that is how the first church was planted in Mr. M’s house.
When Mr. M went to a nearby village, he met a girl who was deaf. Prompted by the Holy Spirit, he prayed, and immediately the girl’s ear was opened and she could hear! Then, the first day of the church, 34 people gathered. The next week, 59 people gathered. That was how the second church was planted.
Another time, during a prayer meeting, a lady who was described as “mad” was healed. Mr. M was shocked – that had never happened in his life.
Within 3-4 months after Mr. M’s arrival in this country, about two churches have been planted and six Discovery Bible Studies have begun. When he arrived, most churches were not into Discovery Bible Studies, and most people were not using the strategy of Disciple Making Movement (DMM). But Mr. M says that DMM is the easiest way to spread the gospel in this country. Because he was taught and because he obeyed, by the grace of God, he is witnessing God at work in this land.
Please pray for Mr. M and his family, that they may continue to make disciples. And pray that those disciples will themselves be reliable and qualified to go and teach others so that more and more people learn of the salvation that is in Christ Jesus.
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)
